Aboyne 2010 week1

Day 2 alas winds were southwesterly and moist giving total cover mostly at 2000ft occasional peaks to 3000ft with little lift. So some hardy souls did the loch muick walk needing a lie down after to recuperate. Others made use of the time with domestic chores and food shopping. The evening was rounded off with a meal in the boat inn joined by Graham Bell who cycled from the club in the rain just to be with us. Outlook not good for tomorrow, putting our faith on Thursday

Aboyne 2010 week1

Day 1 Sunday 26th September all three gliders have arrived and were duly rigged. After the usual club briefing for visitors flying commenced in a light northeasterly, the cloud base rising to 3500ft. Check flights were completed and some solo flights made by pilots new to the area. Although there was thermal activity right up to cloudbase nobody found wave even if towed above cloudbase. With check flights complete all we need now is a good window of weather. The new accommodation is excellent with attractive rooms and everything works! There is a splendid HD tv and a pool table room. The kitchen and dining rooms are expansive making it suitable for entertaining in style.
